Healing With Essential Oils
Updated: Jan 31, 2020
Essential oils are derived directly from Mother Nature herself!
By distilling and pressing; bark, leaves, flowers, fruits, or seeds, a concentrated healing property is produced and we call it an essential oil.
Essential oils can penetrate your cells and deliver amazing health benefits. The benefits and uses of essential oils are so immense they should be a part of everyone’s life!
What are essential oils used for?
Essential oils make a great alternative to perfumes and can be added to oils or butters and used on the skin and hair. Try lavender, rose, geranium, or ylang ylang to add some healthy scents to your body! Try using citronella oil next time you are walking where those pesky mosquitos are present.
Essential oils do more than add pretty scents; when used topically, oils can help with scars, soothe sensitive or damaged skin, provide anti bacterial, anti fungal and anti inflammatory benefits, and much, much, more.
Some essential oils when inhaled can even reduce the need for inhalers! Next time you have a cold add a drop or two of eucalyptus to your hands and breathe in, it will help to soothe the throat and clear your nasal congestion.
Essential oils are also great for calming or eliciting certain emotions. Lavender has a calming effect, grapefruit can make you feel optimistic, lemongrass can expand consciousness, and juniper educes joy. Play around with different oils until you find the ones that work best for your needs. There are many ways you can integrate them into your life, to find out how keep reading.
What do I do with essential oils?
Make natural cleaning products that easily clean your home and leave a wonderful smell behind.
Add essential oils to a carrier oil and place in a glass jar with reeds; this will diffuse the oil scent into the room.
Using an ultrasonic diffuser add a few drops of essential oils to distilled water and relax as the natural scents fills and cleanses your home. This is a great way to breathe in the oils.
Add a few drops of essential oils to distilled water and you have your very own aroma therapy or air freshener. Spray around the room and on pillows and fabrics. Don’t like smoke? Try a smudge spray instead of dried sage to release lower energies from your energy and home.
Dab essential oil on the bottom of your feet to boost immunity or work through a virus.
Add your essential oils into the bath or in the shower for an aroma bath. The oil's benefits are absorbed through the skin and also through breathing.
Essential oils are a natural upgrade for the products you use today in your life.
But why transition to using essential oils? Because the chemicals you are spraying on yourself and in your home can be toxic. Certain chemicals found in everyday cleaning products such as Phthalates (fragrance in cleaners) and Butoxyethanol (found in window cleaner) can irritate skin, cause respiratory problems, negatively impact hormones, and even cause kidney damage 1,2. If there is a healthier alternative to using these products that offer the same results, why not give it a try?
